COURSE SYLLABUS for Field Study 5 (Learning Assessment Strategies)
Second Semester, SY 2012-2013
I. COURSE TITLE: Field Study 5 –Learning Assessment Strategies
II. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide students with practical learning experiences in technology in the assessment of learning as one of the key elements of the educative process. It specifically focuses on the selection, preparation and utilization of conventional and authentic assessment tools in the Basic Education. The prerequisite courses are Assessment of Learning 1 and 2.

VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES
A. NCBTS Competencies
1. Establish and maintains consistent standards of learners’ behaviour
2. Demonstrate concern for holistic development of learners
3. Develop and use a variety of appropriate assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate learning
4. Demonstrate concern for holistic development of learners
5. Takes pride in the nobility of teaching as a profession
B. General – Upon completion of the course, the students are expected to have a deep and principled understanding of the selection, preparation and utilization of conventional and authentic assessment tools in the Basic Education.
C. Specific
1. Identify and explain principles of assessment of learning
2. Identify and classify assessment tools
3. Appraise/Critique assessment tools used by the teachers
4. Analyse the interaction of assessment to curriculum and instruction
5. Reflect on the status of the assessment strategies used in basic Education
